| Environmental Policy
Whether you believe in global warming or not, one thing is apparent. It is encumbent upon us all, as both businesses and individuals, to conserve energy, limit waste and make decisions with due regard to our environmental impact.
Kingsmead has followed this policy for many years; it makes good economic sense!
In response to the growing number of our customers that share this view, I am delighted to list the environmental credentials of our supplies and processes:
In the past 2 years Kingsmead has reduced waste sent to landfill by 50%.
All cards and envelopes are recyclable
Most cards are printed on board from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) accredited carefully managed sustainable forests where annual growth rates have exceeded consumption for several years. A number of designs are also available on recycled board.
The mills that produce our boards are both FSC and ISO 14000 accredited.
Bleaching of the wood pulp for non recycled board is elemental chlorine free
Board is purchased in sizes that minimise wastage after printing and cutting cards.
We use aqueous varnish rather than UV, reducing emissions to the atmosphere and decreasing the environmental load when recycled.
We overprint directly onto the cards rather than using additional paper inserts.
